June 11, 2010

"Colleen and Chris" returns for the wedding of Colleen and Jon, which took place in Syracuse. Chris will do two posts, as he saw Colleen two straight days, thus qualifying as two events. So there.

Chris arrived in Syracuse at about 4 p.m. June 11, and after a few minutes to catch his breath he decided to meander around campus. While plotting a (failed) attempt to walk inside the Carrier Dome, Chris unknowingly walked past the wedding chapel. Naturally, Colleen and Jon pulled into the parking lot and a hello was shared as Chris met Jon for the first time. The randomness of this meeting could only have been pulled off by Colleen and Chris -- and Jon, since he was driving. Perhaps Jon planned it this way. Only he knows this. He is sworn to secrecy to protect the integrity of the blog.

Funny moment: Colleen pointed out the rehearsal site to Chris, only to have Chris ask about two minutes later where is the chapel. Fortunately Colleen did not chastise Chris for this error, as she is likely used to giving Chris multiple explanations of what exactly is going on.

Colleen and Jon headed off to the rehearsal, and Chris finished touring the campus (visit his Facebook page for the pics). A bunch of folks met up later at the hotel "watering hole" for drinks and fellowship. Chris met Colleen's coworkers, college friends and more. Chris didn't sing along with the jukebox like many of the others, but he at least waved his beer bottle when instructed. Colleen and Chris discussed his trip from Baltimore, the fact that Lisa and Dan were coming (yay!), our disgust with the Winston-Salem minor league baseball team's name change and other controversial issues of the day.

Colleen left to run an errand, and Chris realized he was hitting the proverbial wall so he went to his room. Chris didn't get to say good night to Colleen but knew the big day was ahead. A good time was had by all. - POSTED BY CHRIS
